Howdy!
Y’all are cordially invited to join us again for the second year in a row of AstriCon at SCaLE, the Southern California Linux Expo, in sunny Pasadena, California, on Thursday and Friday, April 1-2, 2027. 🤠
We need your help to make it happen! The AstriCon 2027 Call For Papers form is now open and accepting your proposals until the end of 2026 on Thursday, December 31st!
Two conferences, one venue ?
Double the fun and submit a second proposal to speak at the wider SCaLE 24x event on April 3-4, but giddy up as their deadline is November 1st. SCaLE is North America’s largest community-run open source conference. 🐧
Looking to help sponsor the event ? Saddle up a chair at a booth next to us over the weekend in the exhibit hall amongst some of the grandest open source projects and technology companies on the planet — check out last year’s SCaLE 23x sponsors’ page.
What is AstriCon ?
AstriCon is the annual conference and user event for the Asterisk open-source telephony platform and its associated community, including FreePBX users and developers. We invite the Asterisk and FreePBX communities to share what they’re building, solving, and exploring at AstriCon 2027. From vCon and AI to security, E911, STIR/SHAKEN, scaling, and beyond, we’re looking for technical insights, real-world implementations, creative integrations, and new ideas shaping the open source communications ecosystem.
How long has AstriCon been a thing ?
The first AstriCon was held in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2004, as announced on the [Asterisk-Users] mailing list. Over the last two decades, the conference caravanned across the country, scaling up and down as needed, with some virtual stints when things went viral, followed by the recent return to mostly in-person gatherings in warm coastal areas for the past several winters. ❄️✈️☀️
The AstriCon highlight video reel below showcases some opening panels with Ask Them Anything (ATA) moments and keynote speeches from pioneers in the VoiP and VoiceAI spaces, alongside the closest major commercial airport codes.
